They are fiberglass batting and acoustic dampening tiles. Some paneling can reduce sound heard outside the room by 100%, but the band rooms’ carpet on the walls wasn’t that effective. Junior highs and high schools don’t have a lot of money, so band rooms are noisy. However, I’m glad you can still hear the music walking down the hall to go to class because it is one of the things I remember most about school.
